Study #3
Sin and Its Effects
Romans 3
23For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and
are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ
Jesus. 25God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through
faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His
forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.
Q- According to verse 23, who sins?
Q- Yet verse 24 says that God declares us not guilty. Why?
Q- Verse 25 – How are people made right with God?
Ephesians 1
7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of
sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.
Q- Are we forgiven because we stop sinning?
1 John 4
10This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Q- Why are we forgiven?
Romans 5
1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ...
Q- Why do we have peace with God?
Yet we still sin, and God is aware of this.
1 John 1
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth
is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and
will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If
we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has
no place in our lives.
Q- What does God want us to do with our sins?
Q- What two things will God do when we confess our sins to
Him?
Q- How does God feel about denial or downplaying our sins?
Hebrews 4
16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that
we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Conclusion: Summarize what God wants us to do when we sin.
